Overview
HEX20 develops satellite platforms, subsystems and mission solutions across the space industry. Its broad technical portfolio called for an innovative approach to space technology website design that made its expertise accessible without diluting its engineering depth.
Supercode built a digital experience that pairs WordPress for content management with Next.js for a high-performance frontend, bringing clarity to the portfolio while preserving its technical substance.
Challenges
Making technical depth accessible
HEX20’s portfolio is broad and multi-layered. The website needed to organise this depth into a clear, engaging experience while retaining the engineering detail its buyers rely on to evaluate the offering.
Rethinking platform discovery
The satellite platforms and mission solutions needed more than conventional listing pages. Each offering required a distinct introduction that helped visitors understand its purpose, capabilities and place within the wider portfolio.
Giving the brand a coherent digital expression
HEX20’s identity had to extend beyond its visual surface to reflect the structure, behaviour and technical character of the brand. The website needed to express these qualities through its interface and the way visitors experienced the technology.
Process
Technical expertise often has a story behind it. Finding that story and shaping the website around it is where our work begins.
We studied HEX20’s portfolio, mission history and ambitions to understand what distinguished the company and its work. This informed the visual direction and the sequence of the experience, creating a narrative that guides visitors through the site rather than presenting information as a collection of disconnected pages.
A mission depends on precise sequencing, and so does a website. We established a clear progression through the content and interactions, ensuring that each stage builds on the last and brings visitors closer to understanding HEX20’s capabilities.
Solutions
A space-centric visual experience
HEX20’s existing dark theme became the foundation for a more immersive, space-inspired environment. Three-dimensional satellite models, controlled lighting and deliberate framing brought the technology into focus. Instead of resembling a conventional platform catalogue, the website unfolds as a continuous experience that invites visitors to engage with the technology beyond a specification sheet.
A narrative shaped by achievement
HEX20’s mission history and technical accomplishments became central to the website’s storytelling. Rather than relying solely on written descriptions, the experience uses visual narrative to establish the significance of the company’s work and communicate its capabilities with greater clarity.
An interactive approach to platform discovery
We moved away from standard listing pages towards a more engaging experience. Featured platforms and their stories appear directly on the homepage, giving visitors an immediate understanding of the technology and its applications. The WordPress backend allows HEX20’s team to update specifications and narratives independently, without relying on developers for routine content changes.

Technology
The frontend is built on Next.js to support the website’s rich visual environment, including 3D renders, transitions and layered interactions. These elements demand careful attention to loading behaviour and rendering efficiency. Server-side rendering and static generation help deliver content quickly, while the frontend accommodates high-fidelity spacecraft models and motion without making visual richness the sole priority
WordPress powers the backend, providing a structured content management system for an evolving portfolio of missions and technical specifications. HEX20’s team can manage this information directly, while Next.js handles its presentation to visitors. This separation gives the company editorial flexibility without compromising the intended digital experience.
Outcome
HEX20 needed a website that reflected its technical standing and gave its extensive portfolio a coherent digital expression. Supercode delivered a website that:
- Makes a broad, technically demanding portfolio easier to navigate and understand.
- Establishes a distinct, space-centric visual identity through three-dimensional storytelling.
- Introduces satellite platforms and mission solutions through interactive experiences.
- Combines WordPress content management with a Next.js frontend to support ongoing updates and performance.
The website brings HEX20’s mission history and engineering expertise into a cohesive digital experience, giving visitors a clearer understanding of the company’s capabilities. It reflects Supercode’s approach to space technology website design: making technical depth accessible without compromising the substance behind it.
